NVIDIA and Oracle Partner to Build Largest AI Supercomputer for U.S. Department of Energy
NVIDIA and Oracle have joined forces to construct the largest AI supercomputer for the U.S. Department of Energy, a MOVE poised to revolutionize scientific research. The collaboration, announced at the GTC event in Washington, D.C., will deploy two state-of-the-art systems—Solstice and Equinox—at Argonne National Laboratory.
Solstice will feature an unprecedented 100,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs, while Equinox will house 10,000, interconnected by NVIDIA's networking technology. Together, they will deliver a staggering 2,200 exaflops of AI performance. The systems will leverage NVIDIA's Megatron-Core library and TensorRT inference software stack, enabling scientists to train frontier models for open science.
This initiative underscores the DOE's commitment to bolstering U.S. leadership in AI-driven research across security, energy, and scientific domains. The project marks a significant leap in computational capability, with potential Ripple effects for industries reliant on high-performance computing.
